An excellent revision of a popular classic is filled with activities for classroom instruction in Grades K-12, this softcover book was written for students in teacher preparation programs and teachers who have troubled youths in their classrooms. The ultimate goal is to benefit elementary and secondary students who experience so much stress that they cannot proceed through school without some special understanding and modifications of traditional techniques. This text has been updated and expanded to include the latest practical tools for working with troubled children.

Troubled students generally fall into three categories: 1) those who experience stress primarily in school; 2) those who experience stress at home or in the community but not in school; and 3) those who experience stress both within and out of school.

This valuable resource describes what teachers can do to promote learning for troubled youths. It includes numerous examples, photos, forms, and vignettes that make this book engaging and contemporary. There are five Tables and 58 Figures that illustrate how the suggested techniques can be applied both in special and regular classrooms. The book begins with an introduction to this special population of students.
