Overview - ELEMENTARY INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES - MATH INSTRUCTION BUNDLE
For students with low-incidence disabilities, Above & Beyond with KP Ten-Frame Tiles focuses strategically on one strand-number and number operations-and treats it with depth, thoroughness, and connectedness so that students build the numerical literacy necessary for in-school learning and beyond-school independence and autonomy.
Features
Above & Beyond math is a principal, multisensory curriculum that teaches number sense, place value, number operations, and money (bills and coins). Students use KP Ten-Frame Tiles to experience the patterns within 0-10 and the patterns created by grouping by tens. Organizing instruction through progressive number sets (0-10, 0-19, 0-99, 0-1000), the program emphasizes 0-10 concepts and skills throughout every number set, promoting ten as the anchor for understanding place value and for carrying out number operations. Detailed lessons include assistive technology recommendations and provide step-by-step instructional procedures that guide teachers and paraprofessionals.
Above & Beyond emphasizes eight mathematical skills that build functionality with money, addressing one of those skills in every lesson. A comprehensive assessment system ensures correct placement, readiness for learning, and progress monitoring. The program is also appropriate also for those students who may never progress to more advanced topics and offers them full instruction in the strand most relevant to their future lives.
