Handwriting Without Tears (HWT) is a simple, developmentally based curriculum that uses multisensory lessons for all learning styles-visual, auditory, manipulative, tactile, and kinesthetic. The innovative method makes handwriting a natural and automatic skill for students of all abilities in Grades K-4. Children who write well and easily do better in school, enjoy school more, and feel good about themselves.

Features
- Developmentally based learning sequence
- Learned skills put into meaningful and immediate use
- Built-in review of learned skills to promote mastery and fluency
- Clear and consistent page and lesson format
- Comfortable transition between readiness, printing, and cursive
- Valuable support to other language arts skills

The HWT method uses unique, custom-designed materials designed to eliminate problems with letter formation, reversals, neatness, sentence spacing, and cursive connections.

Components
Handwriting Without Tears is the 77-page beginning student workbook, featuring a simple vertical style. Lower case letters are taught first. Letter formation is shown with large step-by-step illustrations and simple guide words.

Cursive Handwriting is a 76-page student workbook that contains easy techniques for connecting letters into words. Review and Mastery pages provide ample word practice to promote confidence, fluency, and smaller handwriting.

Cursive Success is the 79-page advanced student workbook, usually used after a child has completed Cursive Handwriting but it may be used as the first workbook for older students. The book features the same large step-by-step illustrations and simple guide words most commonly identified with the HWT method.

Writing Notebook (with double lines) offers the double line format that is a special feature of the HWT method. The double lines in the book are the medium width found in both Cursive Handwriting and Cursive Success.

Printing Power is a 54-page student workbook that provides practice in capital and lower case letters that look the same, copying sentences, "diver" letters, tongue twisters, numbers, and more.

Cursive Display Cards are a series of 8.5- by 11-inch alphabet cards with letters in upper- and lowercase. They are placed above the chalkboard in a 13-foot display for student reference.

The 26 wooden capital letters let students build letters on a mat before they practice writing the letters. Mat (8 1/2" x 11") is sold separately. Additional books, wood sets, and slates are also sold separately.

Smiley Face Slate is a double-sided mini-chalkboard measuring 5.5- by 7.5-inches.
