Overview - CHARACTER EDUCATION LOYALTY
The Character Education series features low-level, high-interest hardcovers that illustrate the best in character values. Young students recognize important types of behavior in simple descriptions and everyday examples, and also learn how to practice character values that are important at home, school, and in the community.
Each 24-page book features:
• Full-color photography
• Library binding
• Simple definitions
• Words to Know list
• Materials list for activities
• Internet sites
• Related readings
Fun, 'hands-on' activities help students understand the values discussed by involving them in positive, engaging exercises. For example, in Consideration, students make a list of all the workers at their school, such as principals, cafeteria workers, custodians, teachers, coaches, secretaries, school nurses, and bus drivers. Each student chooses a name from the list and writes a thank-you note to the school workers for the work they do.
A "Words to Know" list gives simple definitions and pronunciation key. The Internet list contains several web sites pertaining to the subject. "Read More" is a list of several age-appropriate books for teachers to recommend or bring to class to supplement the series.
