Overview - SUMMERVENTURES READ & WRITE LVL H STUD ED GR 8
SummerVentures-Reading & Writing delivers a flexible course of study in reading and writing in six units to help adolescent students acquire the most critical skills they have not yet mastered. Students develop skills by reading high-interest, relevant text; writing across a variety of genres; learning and using academic vocabulary; asking questions as they read; and practicing all stages of the writing process.
Engages the Learner
The SummerVentures-Reading & Writing Student Edition builds student success and motivation using research-based strategies, including scaffolded instruction, reading choice, writing choice, and social collaboration. The program features 180 Comprehension Cards containing informational and literary text written at six reading levels. An Academic Vocabulary Glossary builds key vocabulary.
Supports the Teacher
The SummerVentures-Reading & Writing Teacher's Edition is comprehensive and easy to use. Each unit has an overview for all lessons in the unit with Lesson Summary, Reading Objective, Writing Objective, Academic Vocabulary, Assessment Options, and Notes to Support All Learners for differentiated instruction. Each lesson contains a reduced version of each student page with clear, step-by-step instructions.
Assessment
SummerVentures-Reading & Writing provides a one-hour pretest to determine students' entry level of understanding and a parallel post-test to measure growth. Formative assessments are embedded in each lesson. The ExamView Assessment Suite* contains all pretests and post-tests in electronic format, allowing teachers to run reports and capture data.
