Overview - RWPW ACTIVITY CARDS - COMMUNITY
Developed by PCI’s Janie Haugen-McLane, these curriculums and cards will
teach 1200 everyday words. Students with limited or no reading skills will learn
200 words with each of the six titles. Activity cards are designed to be used
with Real-World Picture Words Curriculum, but each set can also be used
alone to teach and reinforce 200 everyday words.
MULTIPLE USES Teachers will find many uses for these high-quality activity
cards. Cards work beautifully in both one-on-one and small-group settings. The
most common use will involve students identifying and pronouncing the name of
each object as the cards are displayed. The name of the item is written on the
bottom of the card for additional reinforcement, if necessary. Several other
suggested uses of the cards are included in the Teacher’s Guide.
SCHOOL & BASIC CONCEPTS 100 words focus on people, places, and objects
in a school. 100 words focus on basic concepts.
BODY, CLOTHING, GROOMING & HEALTH 55 words feature parts of the body,
85 words feature clothing, and 60 words cover grooming and health items.
GROCERY STORE FOODS 200 words for foods found in a grocery store.
COMMUNITY 200 words for community helpers, places, and objects in communities.
HOUSEHOLD 200 words feature items commonly found in a home.
KITCHEN & BATHROOM 140 words cover items in a kitchen, and 60 words
cover bathroom items.
EACH SET INCLUDES 200 large (4 1/2"x 5 3/4"), full-color activity cards
and a teacher’s guide with teaching ideas and an assessment.
