Reading Comprehension: Building Vocabulary and Meaning builds comprehension and improves test scores for all readers. Students become better readers and better test-takers as they encounter a wide range of fiction and nonfiction genres, those occurring most often on standardized assessments. Aligns with IRA and NCTE standards.
Student Edition Vocabulary words are highlighted in the text, defined with pronunciation at point of use, and added to a vocabulary builder at the end of each lesson. Each lesson includes comprehension checklist and review questions.
Teacher's Edition Easy-to-implement lesson plans feature explicit instruction. Graphic organizer transparency for each lesson introduces new skills and sets the purpose for reading. Assessment checkpoints and scoring rubrics offer frequent opportunities for assessment. Student rubrics are available on blackline masters for self-assessment.
