Overview - KNOW YOUR BODY - SKELETAL & MUSCULAR SYSTEMS
Know Your Body Series helps struggling readers and students with learning differences understand the major systems of the human body. This comprehensive science program includes five reproducible binders with easy-to-read chapters and diagrams that address important characteristics, functions, and health issues related to each of the body's systems. Completely updated, the lessons have been aligned with National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) strands and objectives to help students master concepts tested on high-stakes assessments.
Each binder covers two related systems of the human body:
• Skeletal and Muscular Systems
• 5 Senses and the Nervous System
• Circulatory and Respiratory Systems
• Digestive and Excretory Systems
• Endocrine and Reproductive Systems
Features
Short, easy-to-understand lessons cover basic facts about each part of a particular system. Written at a 3.0 - 5.0 reading level, the chapters feature key vocabulary words and pre-reading questions to help students prepare for reading and make connections to their own lives. Simple diagrams throughout the text enhance understanding.
Following each chapter are three reproducible activity sheets that reinforce students' comprehension of the text and key vocabulary words. Includes multiple-choice, matching, categorization, and fill-in-the-blank activities.
Quizzes, lesson tests, and unit tests are all provided to help assess students' understanding of key concepts and vocabulary. Two different forms of assessment are included for each quiz and test: multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank. Teachers can choose the type of assessment that best fits their students' needs or use one form as a pre-test and the other as a posttest.
