A Multisensory Approach to Phonics & Word Study
Provide English language learners with an alternative approach to phonics,
word structure, and spelling with this unique multisensory program. Students
utilize tactile, kinesthetic, visual, and auditory modalities to enhance memory
and learning and to understand the structure of words without drill.
Touchphonics is research-based and was developed by Dr. Robin Steed.
It has been tested and proven to be effective in reading laboratories at Brigham
Young University, where it dramatically increased the reading skills of students
previously weak in phonics.

Magtiles Kit - Color-coded magnetic tiles (one to match each of the
Touch-Units) are great tools for modeling, addressing different learning styles,
or whole class instruction. Includes 3 customized pocket charts for storage.
COMPONENTS
• Teacher’s Guide & Resource Book: Offers lesson plans
for each phonetic concept, including phonemic awareness, word building, dictation,
reading in context, and comprehension. Also includes encoding, decoding, and
consonant inventories for placement and diagnostic purposes.
• Touch-Units: Each set of 203 Touch-Units is designed for use with
one student. The color-coded, three-dimensional letters and letter combinations
represent all the essential English graphemes.
• Student Workbook: Reinforces learning with phonics exercises for
every skill, recording forms for words made during word-building activities,
and comprehension activities for every Decodable Reader.
• Blackline Decodable Readers Vol. 1 & Vol. 2: Students apply
phonics concepts to connected text, gain fluency, and build comprehension.
• Whiteboards: Students build, manipulate, and transcribe words
on dry erase whiteboards. (Small: 11" x 7.75". Large: 15.75"
x 11")
• Storage Systems A & B: Helps to minimize organization time
and maximize instruction time.
