Overview - HIGH SCHOOL LEARNING DIFFERENCES - READING INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT MATERIALS BUNDLE
For high-school students who struggle with reading PCI brings together a supplemental package of materials appropriate for use with any core curriculum. The programs in the bundle provide multiple opportunities for practice in reading, comprehension, and writing, using high-interest fiction and nonfiction texts. The bundle also includes two resource books for teachers featuring extensive and detailed lesson plans and reading assessments.
The Sourcebooks series helps struggling learners in grades 9-12 build the strategies they need to become effective readers and writers. Each book begins with fiction and nonfiction selections two years below grade level and gradually progress to more grade-level appropriate texts. A unique journal-style design draws students into each selection while consistent, step-by-step lessons guide them through strategies for reading, understanding and writing about literature.
In Real-World Reading students learn strategies for reading various types of everyday texts such as menus, labels, maps, bills and job applications. Mystery Clues uses 40 attention-holding mystery stories to help student develop essential reading skills including problem-solving and drawing conclusions. Every mystery begins with a paragraph that sets the scene and a list of clues provides more information. Students use graphic organizers to organize their thoughts and answer questions.ÿIn Biography Shorts-Historical Figures each short is followed by four activity sheets that focus on comprehension skills. Extension activities encouraging student to make personal connections to the text, do further research, and craft written responses are also included.
