The Starting Gate series gives students reading below grade level an opportunity to experience success in reading. Five books make up the series, each of which contains four short stories on contemporary, relevant topics designed to appeal to young people and adults.
Set 1 - Each of the five 48-page books contains four short stories on contemporary, relevant topics that appeal to students. Starting with 101 basic sight words, each story adds a handful of new words to the student's reading vocabulary. Students will read the books in sequence and master 315 words by the time all five books have been completed.
Set 2 - Like Set 1, each story in the five 48-page books starts with a list of 101 basic sight words and adds a few new words to each story. Students will read the books in sequence and master 301 new words.
