Boardmaker's easy-to-use programs offer a way to extend students' learning
experiences. The graphics-based collection features Picture Communication Symbols
(PCS). Most can be viewed and printed in several languages. Use these resources
to create symbol-based computer activities, printable worksheets, schedules,
and more. This Boardmaker collection features the most commonly used software
among special educators and speech-language pathologists.
Scene Detective takes the game of I Spy to three new levels
with three motivating vocabulary-building games. Up to 25 thematic Picture Communication
Symbols (PCS) appear in each of 25 colorful, fun scenes in on-screen games that
build visual, auditory, and reading skills. In the Looking Detective game, students
learn to match identical symbols in context. The goal of Listening Detective
is to identify symbols when given the spoken label. In the Reading Detective
game, students identify symbols after reading the text labels.
Each game in Scene Detective provides three levels of prompting, reinforcement,
and a printout of student performance to assist teachers in baseline data, progress
monitoring, and IEP goal writing. Scene Detective extends the themes and vocabulary
of Print 'n Play and Print 'n Learn into the realm of computer interactivity
for individual student learning and fun.
