Overview - SAY IT, RHYME IT, SPELL IT SOFTWARE SITE LICENSE (25 USERS)

Windows: 98SE/2000/XP/VISTA Mac: OS 9/OS X/Mac-Intel (Rosetta)

Invite beginning readers to master saying, rhyming, and spelling short-vowel c-v-c words with this interactive Mac/Win CD. Students learn by correctly identifying pictures and reading words, such as bag, cap, and log. Helps students develop the foundation and skills needed to begin the reading process by showing the relationship between letter sounds and word patterns.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
First, an animated tutorial describes how to say, rhyme, and spell simple c-v-c words. Then, students practice with either a picture strand or a word strand. Each strand covers vowels (a, e, i, o, and u) using 23 different patterns. Includes rollover audio guides. In each strand, a review after completion of the three practice units evaluates students' progress.

PICTURE STRAND
Pictures represent each of the simple c-v-c words in the patterns. First, students identify a picture, read its word, and repeat it. Then, they rhyme words by listening to a picture's name and finding another picture that rhymes with it. Finally, students listen to the name of a picture, see one missing letter, and choose the correct letter to complete the spelling of it.

WORD STRAND
Simple c-v-c words in the patterns are presented without their corresponding pictures. First, students sound out and say the words. Then, they rhyme words by listening to a word and finding another word that rhymes with it. Finally, students listen to the name of a picture and use the keyboard to correctly spell it.

OPTIONS AND ASSESSMENT
An assessment helps teachers determine each student's mastery, which is recorded in the student assessment chart. Teacher options allow several adaptations and an opportunity to monitor progress. Students can complete one or both strands.
