Overview - REAL-WORLD SOCIAL SKILLS GAME & CURRICULUM
Real-World Social Skills Curriculum and Game set covers everyday social situations and issues that students encounter in school and at home. This 250-page curriculum includes lessons, interactive group and partner activities, role-plays, and reproducible activity sheets that help students learn positive behaviors. This program can be used for small or large groups.
Features
Each unit focuses on a different social skill and includes a variety of suggested activities and reproducible sheets. Units can be taught in any order.
The lessons begin with an illustrated miniposter that reinforces the featured social skill. An overview of the unit follows and includes lists of suggested children's books and other resources that address the social skill. Activities include discussion starters and interactive simulations of real-world situations. Reproducible sheets reinforce these activities.
Game Play
The game board is comprised of 12 circular spaces. Corresponding draw cards match one of 12 topics. There are also several “wild cards” included in the card stack to add an element of surprise to the game. Each topic is covered once during game play. Students roll the die to see who goes first. Then, the first player draws a card, and the facilitator reads a question from the teacher guide that pertains to the topic written on draw card. Once answered, the student places the draw card on its corresponding space on the board. Game play continues until each draw card is chosen or until the teacher concludes the game.
