The award-winning PCI Reading Program is a three-level curriculum developed to move students with intellectual and developmental disabilities toward reading independence. In this new online companion to the print edition of PCI Reading Program—Level Three, students are introduced to a series of motivational games addressing phonemic awareness, letter-sound correspondence, basic phonics using onsets and rimes, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. Like the print edition, Level Three Online provides instruction in 23 onsets and 20 word families, from which students create 125 new decodable words.

DESIGNED TO SUPPORT STUDENTS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES SO THAT —
All students have access to developmentally appropriate instruction in phonics. To promote student success, instruction is carefully scaffolded to introduce students to the process of decoding by unveiling sounds embedded within the sight words they learned in Levels One and Two.

PROVIDES EXTENSIVE WORD DECODING PRACTICE THROUGH VARIED ACTIVITIES SO THAT —
Students learn through multiple repetitions within different formats.  The online program includes over 20 games that give teachers a variety of skill review options, so students maintain their engagement.

COMBINES ANIMATED AND AUDITORY MODELING SO THAT —
Visual and aural cues work together to promote word identification, skill generalization,
and long-term learning. For many students with intellectual or developmental disabilities, learning to blend sounds can be difficult. Level Three Online incorporates a combination of audio and animation to help students acquire the skill of blending.

INCLUDES COMPREHENSION, MODIFIED WRITING, AND FLUENCY ACTIVITIES SO THAT —
Students integrate all their reading skills as they learn to decode. Level Three Online provides modified “writing” opportunities for students who find writing challenging. Comprehension skills covered include: main character, setting, compare and contrast, and sequencing events. Lessons in reading with accuracy, rate, smoothness, phrasing, and expression are included.

CONTAINS A DIGITAL LIBRARY SO THAT—
Students have additional opportunities to
practice reading fiction and nonfiction books.
Fiction books have a variety of outstanding illustrations and feature middle school and high school age students in contemporary settings. Nonfiction books feature photos, charts, graphs, diagrams, and timelines.

PRESENTED IN AN ENGAGING ONLINE FORMAT, WITH ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES SO THAT—
Students can learn in ways that best suit their learning needs and preferences.

PROVIDES PRESCRIPTIVE AND ONGOING ASSESSMENT FOR PROGRESS MOITORING SO THAT—
Teachers can individualize instruction for each student and document achievement.
A full array of assessments are available, including an Onset Pre-Assessment, Comprehensive Test, and 20 Unit Tests. Each Unit Test covers word identification, word usage, and comprehension. Teachers can view results for activities and assessments by class or by student.
