How the Momentum Math Program Works
1. Administer a Grade-Level Pretest.*
Each question is aligned to a Momentum Math lesson.
2. Score Pretest and Identify Gaps.
Multiple-choice format allows for easy scoring, quickly producing data that identifies strengths and areas of challenge in each student’s math skills.
3. Implement Student Book Lessons and use the Practice and Assessment Companion.
Engaging, short lessons in the student books focus on specific math skills. The Practice and Assessment Companion provides continuing opportunities for students to sharpen skills.
4. Administer a Grade-Level Posttest*
Use data from Posttests to verify students have mastered the targeted skills.
* Tests are available for grades 6, 7, and 8. Tests can be administered manually or electronically through the ExamView ® Assessment Suite.
Engage All Learners
Momentum Math was designed to reach students who have a variety of needs and learning styles. Graphics and examples that appeal to students in middle school are used to make foundational content accessible and meaningful.
Lesson Structure
A driving metaphor is reflected in each part of the lesson and moves students toward higher levels of achievement.
