Momentum Math Program Components:

The program consists of student books organized into six volumes.

Momentum Math - Getting Started

Step 1: Administer a grade-specific Entry Assessment. (Tests are available for grades 4, 5, 6, and 7. Tests can be administered manually or electronically through the ExamView® Assessment Suite.) Each question is aligned to a CA Content Standard and a Momentum Math lesson.

Step 2: Score assessments. Multiple-choice format allows for quick and easy scoring by school staff.

Step 3: Choose appropriate books based on assessment results.
 

Engage All Learners

Momentum Math was designed to reach students who have a variety of needs and learning styles. Graphics and examples that appeal to students in grades 4 through middle school are used to make foundational content accessible and meaningful.

Lesson Structure

A driving metaphor is reflected in each part of the lesson and moves students toward higher levels of achievement.


 

High-interest graphics capture students’ attention at the start of each lesson. The characters model expert thinking, solve problems, and share effective strategies with students.

Purposeful use of visuals with simple text presents concepts in engaging ways.
